Findochty Beach Clean & Survey

Findochty Beach Clean Initiatives: Promoting environmental stewardship activities.

A huge thank you to the volunteers who came together on a crisp Sunday morning to clean and survey Findochty Beach, organised by the Moray Firth Coastal Partnership. With participants from Findochty and as far as Rothes, the group worked hard to remove litter from a 100-meter stretch of coastline.

Together, they cleared an impressive 85 kilos of waste, with a staggering 1,722 individual pieces of litter—about double the usual density found in the Moray Firth region. Among the debris, a standout discovery was a Rowntrees Smarties lid, dating back to between 1965 and 1975—showing just how long plastics can persist in the environment.

This event highlights the ongoing challenge of plastic pollution and the importance of continued efforts to protect our beautiful coastline.
