Findochty Community Council Re-Established

Findochty Community Council has now been formally re-established following the recent election process conducted in accordance with Moray Council’s Scheme of Establishment.

We are pleased to confirm that a full Community Council has been appointed and is now in place to represent the interests of the residents of Findochty.

Community Councils are statutory bodies established under the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973. Their purpose is to represent the views of the community to Moray Council and other public bodies, and to act as a bridge between residents and decision-makers on local matters.

What This Means for Findochty

The re-establishment of the Community Council ensures that:

  • Local views can be formally represented to Moray Council and other agencies

  • Planning applications affecting Findochty are considered locally

  • Community concerns can be raised through a recognised statutory body

  • Local projects and initiatives can be progressed with appropriate governance

The Council will operate in line with Moray Council’s Scheme of Establishment and its own adopted Constitution and Standing Orders.

Our Role

Community Councils are strongest when residents take part.

We encourage residents to:

  • Attend Community Council meetings

  • Raise local issues or suggestions

  • Contribute to consultations and surveys

  • Volunteer to assist with community initiatives

Meeting dates and agendas will be published on this website in advance.
