A small group of local volunteers carried out a community litter pick in Findochty today, collecting nine full bin liners of rubbish from several areas around the village.
The litter pick was carried out by Paul Kerrison and Paul Steel, joined by Vanessa, Megan and the junior team, whose help was greatly appreciated. It was particularly encouraging to see local children getting involved and taking pride in helping to keep the village tidy.
Volunteers cleaned a number of locations including:
- The area in front of the Post Office
- The grassed area beside the Key Store
- The area behind the houses leading to the Town Hall
- The Town Hall grounds
- The corner grassed area at New Street and Craig View
- The route down the hill towards the Sannie Craig
Around the Key Store, most of the litter consisted of discarded drinks bottles, cans and confectionery wrappers. At New Street, a significant amount of domestic waste was found, which appeared to have blown out of household bins – something that can happen during windy weather.
Findochty Community Council would like to thank everyone who gave up their time to help. Community efforts like this make a real difference in keeping the village clean and welcoming for residents and visitors alike.
If you would like to help with future litter picks or other community activities, keep an eye on the News and Events section of the website and the Community Council’s social media pages.
