Summary
Findochty Community Council met on 3 August 2026 at Findochty Town Hall, with three members of the public present. Apologies were noted from Jeffrey Masterson and Cllr Sonya Warren.
Discussions covered ongoing matters including the Crooked Hythe benches, where the preferred approach is to replace ten rotten slats rather than full replacement, with quotes being sought. The community land lease with FABDT is not viable, but picnic benches at the Seaview Road site can proceed independently; a Common Good Fund application will follow once costs are confirmed. The ride-on mower has been got running but remains without an operator; the original donor will be contacted before any disposal decision is taken.
Ward councillor intervention has been sought over the grit bin at Findochty Primary School, where Moray Council’s offer comes with a condition that renders it unworkable. FCC has also written formally to Moray Council Transportation regarding 20mph signage discrepancies on the approaches to the village.
The Community Council Consultative Role Survey has now received 134 responses from 114 councils across Scotland. E-bike infrastructure feasibility discussions are continuing with HITRANS and Moray Council Economic Development. A community pétanque court is being explored, with a local resident liaising with Macduff Pétanque Club.
The next meeting is Monday 7 September 2026 at 7pm, Findochty Town Hall.
